Becoming an NMC
Counselor
NMC Counselors are trained
volunteers whose primary commitment is to counsel breastfeeding mothers
by telephone. NMC distributes a list of counselors to hospitals
and healthcare providers throughout eastern Massachusetts and the
BACE office can provide referrals to indiviual counselors. Those wishing to become volunteer
counselors for the Nursing Mothers' Council must first complete the
Current Breastfeeding Management training.
We do not have the next course scheduled, but please check back in the future. In the meantime, see NMC Breastfeeding Education Workshops for our next Basics of Breastfeeding workshop, which is suitable for anyone who works with new mothers and their infants.
NMC has been training breastfeeding counselors
since 1962!
