Becoming an NMC Counselor

NMC Counselors are trained volunteers whose primary commitment is to counsel breastfeeding mothers by telephone.  NMC distributes a list of counselors to hospitals and healthcare providers throughout eastern Massachusetts and the BACE office can provide referrals to indiviual counselors.  Those wishing to become volunteer counselors for the Nursing Mothers' Council must first complete the Current Breastfeeding Management training (see NMC Breastfeeding Management Courses ) and fill out a brief application.  They will then be given a homework packet to complete. Once the homework has been accepted, the new counselor will be assigned a mentor to help them during the first several months.  NMC has been training breastfeeding counselors since 1962!

For additional information or a registration form for the next NMC training program please contact BACE .
